Alaska has abundance and variety of wildlife. There are not many places where you can sit in the deck and calmly watch bears taking a bath in the water or a moose running around the city. Moreover, you can also see black bears roaming around and a few cruises even pass through the Kenai Fjords that offer you a fascinating view of bears playing in mountain slopes. Bear watching has now become a craze in Alaska with a lot of sanctuaries offering special care in this regard. Notable among them are the Denali National Park and the Macneil River Sanctuary. It is rumored that you can find bears fishing for salmon here! You can also find lots of sea animals like weasels, killer whales, Humpbacks, beluga, sea lions, critters and other such animals. There is also a place called Haines where one can find bald eagles.

There are other reasons that beckon one to Alaska, and one of them is history. It does not share coasts with mainland United States of America and looks to belong to Canada. It has a history of association with Russia too and still has townships managed by people of Norwegian descent. People have managed to preserve their unique culture and this diversity provides an interesting backdrop for a holiday.

When one thinks of Alaska, an image of snow capped mountains arises in one’s mind and during winter time, it comes true. During summer days are absurdly long (22 hours) but the weather will be pleasant. Also the scenery is stupendous with jagged rocks leading to the top of steep ridges and breathtaking mountainsides. The appropriate time to cruise Alaska is between may and September. The season peaks during July and august.
