Casino cruises are a very popular option for gamblers in both the US and around the world, as they pair up the luxury and fun of a cruise with the chance to play slots, poker, and many other casino games. Some of the larger cruise ships essentially serve as a floating Las Vegas casino, with luxurious accommodations, world-class restaurants, bars, clubs, and concerts, and even spas and exercise facilities. Fans of cruises often point to convenience being one of the biggest draws, as everything is within easy walking distance so there’s never a reason to worry about cabs or getting to and from the casino, club, or hotel.

Longer cruises often stop off in different ports of call, providing the ultimate in a relaxing, fun vacation that lets gamblers sample a taste of casino games in different countries and regions of the world. The Caribbean is a popular choice for many of these cruises, with the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Aruba, and Curacao all offering land-based casinos as well as stop-off points for many different cruise lines. Visitors from around the world are drawn to these locales for the perfect combination of sun, beaches, nightlife, and plenty of entertainment options both at and away from the casino tables.

In the US and some other countries, casino cruises are actually the only way to offer legal gambling in some areas. Some states don’t allow US casinos on land within their state borders, but they do give casino operators the chance to run casinos on boats, which can either be docked permanently or must set sail ad reach international waters before any gambling can occur on the ship. Many smaller casino cruise ships cater to this market, offering daily trips that last for 4-5 hours that are more for gambling fans who’d like to wager a bit on slots or blackjack but don’t want to drive hours to the closest brick-and-mortar casino.

Florida is the starting point for a majority of the cruises in the US and many different operators such as Victory Casino Cruises provide daily cruises. As is the case with many operators, Victory Casino Cruises runs cruises 7 days a week, with two cruises daily (except for a single cruise on Sunday) and offers all the typical casino games such as slots, craps, baccarat, and roulette. A buffet is also available as well as a nightclub, giving customers a chance to enjoy themselves even if they have a bad night at the tables. Like their traditional land-based counterparts, many casino cruises offer players club cards, which lets players earn points for their play that can be cashed in for meals, merchandise, or entries into special sweepstakes and promotions.

Other Florida casino cruises are operated by companies such as Aquasino, The Big “M” Casino, Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines (which offers two day cruises to the Bahamas), Discovery Cruises, Palm Beach Princess, and SunCruz. While Florida is a hotspot for casino cruises, many other US beach cities offer cruises as well, so if you’re interested be sure to check in the particular area you’ll be staying. Coastal cities in California, Texas, South Carolina, and New York (just to name a few states) all have companies that offer casino cruises, so check locally during your stay to see if there’s one near you. Many operators leave pamphlets and brochures at hotels and most operators have their own websites and can easily be found using Google and other search engines.

If you’re looking to book a cruise, it’s very important that you call ahead and confirm all details. Cruises have limited space so they can sell out on popular days (usually Friday and Saturday nights) and many won’t set sail if the weather and conditions aren’t optimal for sailing or if there’s a chance of bad weather rolling in. Some cruises are cancelled with little warning so be sure to call the day or night of your cruise before you show up, as there’s nothing worse than showing up at the dock ready for a fun-filled gambling cruise only to find out that the boat isn’t going anywhere and will remain docked at the pier.

The best cruise for kids are the ones offering:

a full day of supervised activities on sea and port days

spacious and bright playrooms

after-hours group and private babysitting

outdoor play space

mini fridges in all cabins

children’s menus and activities at the restaurants

possibility to dine with the youth counselors in the evenings

activities that range from arts and crafts, to basic science projects, free play, computer games, karaoke and pizza parties, story and movie time, and more.

Based on this criteria the best ones are:

Disney Cruise Lines

Carnival Cruise Lines

Royal Carnival Cruise Lines

Disney Cruise Lines

Obviously these ships have been designed for children in mind. Disney Cruise Lines outperform every other major cruise line in offering services for children who are at least 12 weeks old and less than 3 years old.

Children can participate in organized programs or enjoy activities available all day long throughout the ship.

Children may make new friends, watch television, play videogames, listen to music, surf the Internet and enjoy a variety of social activities throughout the day by going to the many youth clubs onboard.

They could also slip and slide down into Mickey’s Pool, splash and have fun in the sun in Goofy’s Family Pool. These are the only ships having pools with separate filtration systems that allow diapered tots to swim, competing cruise lines generally prohibit diapers in all of their pools.

Your children could also watch a Disney movie in one of the theatres, play a board game or learn how to draw Mickey Mouse. Play video games or go to one of the live entertainment shows featuring some of Disney’s characters.

You could also enjoy character greetings, allowing your children and yourself to meet and greet Disney Characters, this occurs all day long, throughout the ship, both in designated places and during special surprises appearances. Your children will enjoy free meals with Disney characters, like having tea with Wendy from Peter Pan.

Disney Ships offer the biggest playrooms and most extensive teen hangout areas at sea, see by yourself:

Aloft, a teens-exclusive activity center is a hip hangout where teens ages 13 to 17 can make new friends, watch television, play videogames, listen to music, surf the Internet and enjoy a variety of social activities throughout the day.

Flounder’s Reef Nursery, a nursery for young children is a delightful Little Mermaid-themed daycare center that provides care for little ones ages 3 months to 3 years.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club, a children’s activity center is the perfect place for kids 3 to 7 years of age to dress up as their favorite princess or hero, play computer games and enjoy a wide variety of supervised activities throughout the day.

Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, a children’s activity center is the ideal place for children 8 to 12, to play games, use computers, conduct experiments and enjoy a wide variety of supervised activities throughout the day.

Ocean Quest, a children’s activity center is an interactive play space designed to look like the ship’s bridge where kids 11 to 13 years of age can steer a virtual ship, play videogames, watch television and participate in arts and crafts with kids their own age.

Quarter Masters, an arcade is a cozy spot featuring the latest videogames hits-and thrilling air hockey-where Guests of all ages can get their game on while onboard.

Studio Sea, a family entertainment center is a television studio-themed hotspot where parents and children are invited to sing, dance, play games and enjoy live entertainment together.

The Stack lounge, a teens-exclusive activity center is a trendy haven where teens ages 14 to 17 can make new friends, watch television, play videogames, listen to music, surf the Internet and enjoy a variety of social activities throughout the day.

In addition to all these activities, it is important to note that:

Each Disney stateroom has a bathroom with a bathtub, the competition only offers showers unless you pay the hard price. For young kids this is very important.

Supervised activities for ages ranging from 3 to 17, are divided into five age groups and are free until midnight or 1am.

Group babysitting is available for ages ranging from 3 months to 3 years ($6/h/child).

There are free unlimited fountain sodas.

Disney has a dock at their private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas eliminating the trouble of tendering back and forth. Castaway also offers bike rentals for the whole family.

Disney’s nurseries charge $6/h/child.

Having a packing list is essential. I learned this the hard way by forgetting essential items and having to pay for them the hard price onboard or in the ports of call.

First, to be on the safe side, make sure to split your items on several luggages. If one is lost at least your partner and/or your family members will have something to wear.

Second, make sure to have everything you will need to live for a couple of days in your carry-on bag in case your luggage is lost or delayed for any reason.

Use this list as a starting point and adapt it to the kind of cruise you will be taking. I don’t think you will need all these items but this comprehensive list should help you not to forget anything.

The Essentials

airline tickets or e-ticket confirmation

cruise documents

passports and visas or proof of citizenship (if needed)

vaccination certificate (if required)

driver’s license and auto insurance card – in case you decide to rent in one of your port of call

medical insurance cards and medical history (especially if traveling alone)

copy of prescriptions and list of all medicines you are taking

another picture ID – if you don’t take driver’s license

If you are like me you will want to avoid crowds and wasting time in lines and spend your time enjoying your Caribbean cruise. No need to rush to the spa on embarkation day, only to guarantee you that hot-candle-wax treatment on the second sea day. Why wait in long lines to reserve a romantic dinner at onboard specialty restaurants?

Caribbean cruise lines have expanded greatly options for online reservations. Whether it’s pre-booking, restaurant reservations, shore excursions and/or spa treatments, cruisers can spend less time queuing up onboard and have more fun enjoying Caribbean cruise activities.

But first look at the “Price Guarantee” policy to make sure that if there is a price drop before you sail, you will be able to benefit from it. In addition this will allow you to book early and have access to a much wider choice of staterooms and availability on your desired departure date.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival offer this kind of guarantee. For example Royal Caribbean passengers who reserve early and later find a lower advertised price by Royal Caribbean for the same ship, sail date and cabin category can receive the full difference in price as an onboard credit to spend on cocktails, specialty dining, spa services and any other onboard purchases. Any money unspent onboard will be refunded at the end of the Caribbean cruise.

Once you have your booking confirmation number, you can log on to your Caribbean cruise line’s website and customize the rest of your cruise. Most of the time you will be able to make pre-reservations for a multitude of onboard activities.

But beware don’t lose spontaneity, pre-planning is ok, but if you overdo it you could be missing activities you did not know would or could be great. It is not always possible to pre-book all onboard activities. To be on the safe side always ask what is the cancellation policy for each activity in case you want to change activities without losing money.

For example shore excursions can be pre-booked online prior to sailing based on the Caribbean cruise line. You will also be able to pre-reserve spa treatments online as well as ordering special gifts and packages, reserving tables at specialty restaurants, filling out your passenger declaration form, booking hotels and airport parking and many other options.

In fact today you can pre-book almost everything from the cruise itself to almost all the activities. Frankly the choice is yours and will be based on the kind of person you are. My father for example has to plan everything in advance when he travels, this is the only way for him to feel in control, safe and secure. In my case, I am the opposite I like improvisation and prefer not to plan anything in advance. I will book my Caribbean cruise and let life surprise me.

There are few cruise lines that are as popular as the Disney Cruises. Therefore finding a discount Disney Cruise might be harder than finding discount cruises for other companies.

One great way to find Disney Cruise discounts is to be willing to search and try different approaches in how you will book your cruise. This means doing your homework. You will want to search online through various companies as well as contact a few different travel agents to see who has the best deal.

Also when dealing with travel agents be well informed of the best deals that are out there. Discuss these deals with the agent to be able to get better deals that they might not tell the general public about. Also refuse to pay more simply because you are booking with an agent. You should be able to get the same deals if not better deals from an agent and if that is not possible then booking through the online websites that are offering these deals will definitely keep the cost down for you.

There are a number of discount Disney Cruise opportunities available for the traveler. One of these great discounts is that when looking into winter cruises you are able to book in the summer and early fall and save a large amount of money.

Another great way to get discounts is through promotional sales. One of the better promotions for families are the sales where kids cruise free. This means that anyone who is cruising with you that is aged 17 or under is able to cruise on the ship for no cost.

Other promotions that are common on the Disney Cruise lines include the option for kids to cruise for 50% off. Again this is a great way to save money while planning a family vacation.

There are also ways to save money while onboard through booking at times when onboard credits are available. This can really add up as a saving that is worthwhile depending on the cruise and the amount of credit that you are getting while onboard.

There are some simple ways to get onboard credit as well. One way to get onboard credit is to book your cruise online. A second way to get onboard credit is to use the Disney Visa to purchase your trip while you can also get credit for booking while onboard for a future cruise and taking advantage of special cruises where onboard credit is being offered. All of these will help you to have a Walt Disney World Cruise for a more affordable price.

Some of the last things to remember when looking into discount Disney Cruise opportunities are that there is a good chance that you can get a discount through special travel agencies as Disney will sell them multiple cruise packages for a lesser rate.

Further there are great savings to be had if you are booking your cruise as part of a group package as there are always group discounts and rates available.

Some other ways to save on Disney cruises are through special discounts based on your personal relationship with different organizations or companies. These are most typically offered to residents or specific areas, military service members and those who have passes to the Disney theme parks.

Being aware of the discounts that you can get will help you to have the most economical and fun Disney Cruise possible. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in traveling on a Disney Cruise especially when looking at traveling with your family.

More families are cruising than ever before, and lines are beefing up their kids and teen facilities to keep everybody happy. All the lines included here offer supervised activities for three to five age groups between ages 2 or 3 and 17, plus well-stocked playrooms, group and/or private babysitting, wading pools, kids’ menus, and cabins that can accommodate three to five people.

Disney Cruise Line: This family magner offers the most sophisticated and high-tech kids’ program in the cruise world, bar none. Huge play areas, family-friendly cabins (the majority have two bathrooms– a sink and toilet in one and a shower/ tub combo and a sink in the other), baby nursery, and the ubiquitious Mickey all spell success. Plus, the 3 and 4 night Bahamas cruises aboard the Disney Wonder are marketed in tandem with stays at Walt Disney World, so you can have your ocean voyage and your Cinderella Castle too.

Royal Caribbean: The huge Voyager-class ships are truly theme parks at sea, with features such as on board rock-climbing walls, ice-skating rinks, in-line skate rinks, miniature golf, burger-joint diners, and Disney-esque Main Streets running down their centers, with parades and other entertainment throughout the day. The new Freedom of the Seas goes them one better, adding an top-deck water park and surfing simulator. All this is an addition to bigger-than-normal kids’ playrooms, teen centers, wading pools, and video game rooms, plus regulation-size basketball, paddleball, and volleyball courts. The Radiance-class ships are also a great family choice, and even the line’s older ships have impressively roomy kids’ facilities.

Carnival Cruise Lines: While Carnival’s let-the-good-times-roll attitude appeals to adults, the line also does a particularly fine job with kids. A few hundred per cruise is pretty normal, with as many as 700 to 800 on Christmas and New Year’s cruises. You’ll find the biggest and brightest playrooms in the fleet on the Conquest-class vessels, with computer stations, a climbing maze, a video wall showing movies and cartoons, arts games, plus great water slides out on the main pool deck. Carnival’s Destiny and Spirit-class ships are pretty great, too.

Princess Cruises: The Grand and Coral class ships each have a spacious children’s playroom, a sizable piece of fenced in outside deck for toddlers, and another for older kids, with a wading pool. Teen centers have computers, video games, and a sound system, and the ones on the Grand class ships even have teen hot tubs and private sunbathing decks.

Norwegian Cruise Line: The kids’ facilities on the line’s Norwegian Dawn, Star, Spirit, Pride of America, and Pride of Hawaii are fantastic, with a huge, brightly colored crafts/play area, a TV corner full of beanbag chairs, an enormous ball-jump/play-gym, a teen center, and an outdoor play/pool area. Parents will appreciate the many restaurant options on board, while kids can dine in tiny chairs at a kids-size buffet of their own.

Cunard: Though you’d hardly expect it from such a seriously prestigious line, the QM2 has a great program and facilities for kids, starting at age 1. Aside from Disney, no other line offers such extensive care for children so young. There’s even a special daily children’s teatime that’s perfect as an early dinner, and the children’s programming is free of charge until midnight daily.

Food has always played a major factor in vacations as it’s a time when we like to eat whatever we want anytime we like. Often our vacation on trips denies us of this dream. But the time of cruise vacation is here that deliver us with our wish of food independence.
History is always sweat and we would reel back in time to see the first offering of food independence which was by the Norwegian cruise line. The NCL introduced “freestyle cruising” which enabled us to widen the time gap that suited our mood that day between 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from the conventional timing of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Another big boon was that you can choose your own seating place, which enabled people to socialize with more people on cruise. Also, NCL offered 5 free restaurants while the others served for $10 to $20 per person enabling us to choose between Mexican, Italian, steak house and more.
Carnival cruise line offered a service called “your dining choice”, which lets us choose between the traditional early time of 6 p.m., the late dining at 8.15 p.m. and your choice timings. Most carnivals have steak house, sushi bar and European style café. Also there is this new service called “the gathering”, which is a two level eatery offering breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Apart from the Italian, Mexican, Asian, Mongolian, Tex-Mex, you can also cook your own custom food from the available resources.
While the above mentioned cruises target the grown up, the Royal Caribbean cruise line has an approach to those travelling with families and kids.
It has an offering called” my family time dining” and “my time dining”. This service is such that you along with your family will be entitled a 40 minutes in the dining room for the kids after which a youth counselor will accompany the kids to club activities in the evenings. This saves the grown up time from spending it on monitoring of kids and saves the kids of the various advice during their club activities by their grown –ups.
