Best Time for Cruising Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Alaska and Antarctica
Seasons effect cruise schedules. Each cruise itinerary has a peak season. Peak season doesn’t always mean “Perfect time for cruising”. During the peak seasons, destinations are crowded and expensive. Due to its geographic location, peak season can be winter months. So, best time for cruising is a complicated question.
For example, if you want to travel to the Caribbean, the months December through April are a busy time as northerners are escaping the cold. You can get good deals from April to June, but be careful of cruises from June to November, as that is usually their rainy, stormy season.
Mediterranean cruises‘ peak time is May to September. But, because of its popularity you can face high prices and unimaginable crowds. So, if you want to save money and have a peaceful holiday, you can cruise throughout the rest of the year. (Storm probability is higher during this times)
Cruising Africa is a safe way to tour the continent. North Africa cruises, especially along the Mediterranean, is best during the spring (April) or fall (September) months, when temperatures are cooler and crowds are fewer. South Africa and Southern South America cruises are best during September to March.
During summer months, Alaska and Northern Europe have unique activities to offer. Midnight Sun is one of them. Imagine, sun circles the horizon and disappearing for 2-4 hours – depending upon how far north you are during the height of summer! By the way, Alaska gets pretty rainy after Mid June. The chance of rain increases as summer progresses.
Norwegian Coastal cruises are available year round along the western coast of Norway, if you want to see the northern lights.
Cruises to Antarctica operates from November to March, as it is Antarctica’s summer. Its peak season is from December to February, where wildlife sightings are lifelong memorable. Mid-February to March is the best time to whale watch.
We tried to give you the picture of the best seasons and the peak seasons. Of course, you should decide what is best for you.

Been on a few Caribbean cruise and I find April to be the busiest times. The summer months are also quiet busy as a lot of US citizens take their summer holidays during this time.
I see that Caribbean islands has become the most favorite place to visit. Investors put billions of their money in building resorts and cruise ships for this region. I am afraid that the cruise ships for this islands have been saturated and more potential markets for sea travel have to be opened. There are still many places that are attractive such as Great Barrier Reef of Australia, China’s coastal cities such as Macau, and Hongkong and South East Asian countries such as Indonesia and the Philipines. These potential markets need tens of new cruise ships. Thanks,
