Therefore, brain orders the body vomiting. Lack of toxins eventually understood by brain or it start to ignore the conflicting signals.
There are 5 advises for preventing or slow the onset of seasickness:
- Avoid caffeine, acidic drinks and alcohol at least 24 hours before getting on the boat and until you get “sea legs”.
- Outside of the boat is usually the best place to be for preventing seasickness. But fumes from diesel and exhausts accelerate seasickness. So, get fresh air, keep away from direct sunlight.
- You shouldn’t be hungry when you get on the boat. Eat a light meal before boat leaves. And don’t eat the meals which contain vinegar and acid. Also, food containing ginger is good at combating sea sickness.
- Books, binoculars and cameras are wonderful things. But excessive use of them hinders the anticipation of boat movement. And, avoid staring at it or other items that would normally be fixed, for example seats, tables and walls.
- Running with the wind behind you in a sailing boat can cause the boat to roll from side to side, which is a sure way to induce a seasick feeling.
